Who we are

dvait is an Android app (package com.dvait.base) run by its developer. In this policy, "dvait", "we" and "us" mean the app and the people who run it. If you have a question about your data, email advaitandhale87@gmail.com.

What dvait collects, and keeps on your phone

dvait is a memory for your phone: it keeps a record of what you see so you can ask about it later. To do that it collects the following. All of it is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage, and is searched there.

Text on your screen
Using Android's Accessibility service, dvait reads the text shown in the apps you switch on in Select Apps, along with which app it came from and when. It does not take screenshots, and it doesn't use Accessibility to tap, type or change anything in other apps. Apps you haven't switched on are ignored.
Notifications
With notification access, dvait saves the text of notifications from the apps you've switched on.
Your list of apps
dvait reads which apps are installed so you can choose which ones it may read. The list isn't sent anywhere.
Your conversations with dvait
Your questions and dvait's answers are saved on your phone so you can come back to them.
Search index
To find things quickly, dvait turns saved text into a search index using a model that runs on your phone. This happens on the device.
Voice
The microphone is used only while you're using voice input or voice mode. Your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition service (on most phones this is Google's), which handles the audio under its own privacy terms. dvait doesn't record or keep audio. Spoken answers are read out by your phone's text-to-speech.
Settings
Your preferences, such as theme, accent and selected apps, are stored on your phone.

We don't use this information for anything except answering your questions in the app.

What's sent when you ask a question

Answers are written by a large language model that runs on a server, not on your phone. When you ask dvait something, the app sends:

  • your question,
  • your recent messages in that conversation (trimmed to a short length), and
  • the snippets of your saved history that best match the question (at most 20), with which app each came from and when.

This goes over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude to write the answer, and sends the answer back to your phone. Your full history is never uploaded, only those matching snippets. Anthropic processes this to produce the answer and does not use it to train its models.

We don't keep a copy of your questions, snippets or answers once the answer has been sent, except in short-lived server logs used to fix errors and stop abuse, which are deleted after 7 days.

Your account

You sign in to dvait with Google. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk, which receives your name, email address, profile picture and an account ID from Google. We use these only to run your account and to contact you about it. dvait doesn't get access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive or any other Google data.

Who else is involved

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising. These services handle it on our behalf, only as described here:

Your choices and rights

  • Choose what's read: switch apps on or off at any time in Select Apps.
  • Pause capture: turn off dvait in your phone's Accessibility and notification access settings.
  • Clear your history: Settings → Clear All Data deletes everything dvait saved on your phone.

Security

Data on your phone is kept in dvait's private app storage, which other apps can't read. Data sent to answer a question travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.

Children

dvait is meant for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child is using dvait, contact us and we'll delete their account.

Changes to this policy
